Meeting at the European Parliament with the new Government of the Republic of Moldova

A working meeting was held at the European Parliament with the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, alongside the Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy, Eugeniu Osmochescu, and Cristina Gherasimov, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration. Following the parliamentary elections in September, the Munteanu government is backed by a pro-European majority and possesses the stability and legitimacy required to accelerate necessary reforms. Our message from the European Parliament is clear: Moldova is ready for the next step - the opening of accession negotiations and enjoys the full support of the majority of Romanian MEPs. I was also pleased to meet Mr. Munteanu again at the first European Forum for Enlargement, organized by Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement. Our support for the Republic of Moldova's European path remains steadfast.
