About Me

I am a liberal Romanian MEP, the leader of the USR (Union Save Romania party) delegation in the European Parliament and Vice-President of the Renew Europe Group and the ALDE Party. Previously, I served as Romania’s deputy prime-minister, Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies and President of the Romanian Parliament’s Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA).

During my two terms as a national MP, I was active in the Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Committees. Currently, I am a member of the Foreign Affairs, Regional Development and International Trade Committees in the European Parliament. I am also a member of the parliamentary delegations for the United States, the Republic of Moldova and Euronest.

Sunt trei ani de când Rusia a invadat Ucraina la ordinul dictatorului Vladimir Putin. Dincolo de fanteziile digitale distribuite în prezent, adevărul istoric pe care l-am trăit cu toții este acesta: Rusia a invadat Ucraina. Rămânem ferm alături de poporul ucrainean în lupta sa pentru libertate şi dreptul de a-și alege propriul viitor. Ucrainenii apără nu doar țara lor, ci şi Europa şi România. În noul context geopolitic, Uniunea Europeană trebuie să își asume răspunderea păcii pe continent și lupta pentru o lume care respectă regulile, adevărul și dreptul internațional. Nu există altă cale iar partea bună a istoriei e una singură și trebuie apărată și atunci când nu e „la modă”.

Trialogul politic s-a încheiat acum câteva minute. Finanțarea de aproape 2 miliarde de euro pentru Chișinău va fi asigurată în condiții foarte bune, cu pre-finanțare de 18%, iar estimarea Comisiei este că ar putea fi virată chiar în luna aprilie. Europa are nevoie de acțiuni ferme, iar Facilitatea este cel mai bun exemplu că se poate.
